Strawberry Cheesecake Dump Cake

Ingredients

🍓 Strawberry Layer

  • 595 grams fresh strawberries (whole or halved)
  • 400–450 grams strawberry pie filling (or homemade strawberry sauce)
  • 2–3 tablespoons granulated sugar (optional for sweetness)

🍰 Cheesecake Filling

  • 225 grams cream cheese (softened, full-fat for best texture)
  • 100 grams granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 120 ml sour cream (optional but recommended for creamy cheesecake texture)

🥮 Cake Mix Crunch Layer

  • 430 grams yellow cake mix
  • 115 grams unsalted butter (melted OR sliced for extra crispiness)
  • A pinch of salt (optional)

Instructions

1. Prepare the Baking Dish

  • Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F).
  • Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or cooking spray.

2. Make the Strawberry Base Layer

  • Spread the strawberry pie filling evenly in the baking dish.
  • Arrange the fresh strawberries on top—whole or halved.
  • Sprinkle a little sugar if you want a sweeter, syrupy base.
This creates the juicy strawberry cheesecake pie filling layer.

3. Prepare the Cheesecake Layer

In a mixing bowl, beat together:

  • Cream cheese
  • Sugar
  • Vanilla extract
  • Sour cream

Beat until smooth, fluffy, and creamy.

  • Drop spoonfuls of the cheesecake mixture over the strawberry layer.
  • Spread gently but do not mix.
This creates the rich creamy cheesecake ribbon layer.

4. Add the Cake Mix Layer

  • Sprinkle the yellow cake mix evenly across the entire dish.
Do not stir — this is what makes it a dump cake!
The cake mix will bake into a buttery, crumbly topping.

5. Add the Butter

You can do this in 2 ways:

Method A (Most Popular): Melted Butter

  • Drizzle melted butter evenly over the dry cake mix.

Method B (Extra Crunchy): Butter Slices

  • Slice cold butter into thin pats and cover the cake mix surface.

6. Bake the Strawberry Cheesecake Dump Cake

  • Bake for 45–55 minutes, or until:
    • The top is golden,
    • The edges are bubbly,
    • The cheesecake layer is set.

7. Cool + Serve

  • Let cool for 15–20 minutes to thicken.
  • Serve warm, room temperature, or chilled.
  • Top with:
    • Whipped cream
    • Fresh strawberries
    • Powdered sugar
    • Vanilla ice cream

Storage

  • Refrigerate for up to 4 days.
  • Reheat in oven for crispy topping.
  • Freezes well for 2–3 months.
