Cheesy Sausage Puff Pastry Rolls

Ingredients

For the Filling

  • 1 lb (450 g) sausage meat (Italian sausage or breakfast sausage)
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 3 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp salt
  • (Optional) 1 tbsp chopped parsley

For the Rolls

  • 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed)
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • (Optional) sesame seeds or poppy seeds for topping

🔪 How to Make Cheesy Sausage Puff Pastry Rolls

1. Preheat Oven

  • Set oven to 400°F (200°C).

2. Make the Sausage Filling

In a large bowl, mix together:

  • sausage meat
  • cheddar cheese
  • cream cheese
  • garlic powder
  • onion powder
  • paprika
  • salt and pepper
  • parsley (optional)

Mix until fully combined.

3. Prepare the Puff Pastry

  • Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface.
  • Cut it into two long rectangles.

4. Add the Sausage Mixture

  • Divide the sausage filling in half.
  • Form each half into a long log and place it along the long edge of each pastry strip.

5. Roll It Up

  • Roll the pastry tightly over the sausage.
  • Place seam-side down.
  • Brush the top with egg wash.

6. Slice & Arrange

  • Slice each long roll into 1–1.5 inch pieces.
  • Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment.
  • Brush tops again with egg wash.
  • Sprinkle sesame seeds or poppy seeds if desired.

7. Bake

  • Bake for 22–25 minutes, or until puff pastry is golden brown and sausage is fully cooked.

8. Serve

  • Let cool for 5 minutes.
  • Serve with honey mustard dip, ketchup, ranch, or spicy mayo.

Tips for Perfect Cheesy Sausage Rolls

  • Make ahead and refrigerate raw rolls for up to 24 hours.
  • Freeze after baking for up to 2 months.
  • Use spicy sausage for a hotter version.
  • Add mozzarella for a gooey cheese pull.
