Chocolate Truffles

Ingredients

For the Rich Chocolate Ganache

  • 8 oz dark chocolate (70% cacao for intense flavor)
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter (for silky texture)
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • Pinch of sea salt (enhances chocolate flavor)

For Rolling / Coating (Choose Any)

  • Cocoa powder (classic cocoa truffle)
  • Crushed nuts (pistachios, almonds, hazelnuts)
  • Chocolate sprinkles
  • Shredded coconut
  • Melted chocolate for dipping (for glossy hard-shell truffles)

🔥 Instructions (Step-by-Step)

1. Make the Chocolate Ganache Filling

  1. Chop the dark chocolate into small pieces and place in a heat-safe bowl.
  2. Heat heavy cream in a saucepan until it just begins to simmer.
  3. Pour hot cream over chocolate and let sit for 2 minutes.
  4. Stir until smooth, rich, silky ganache forms.
  5. Add butter, vanilla extract, and sea salt—mix until glossy and creamy.

2. Chill the Ganache

  • Cover the bowl and refrigerate 1–2 hours, until firm enough to scoop.

3. Shape the Truffles

  1. Scoop the chilled ganache using a spoon or small cookie scoop.
  2. Roll quickly between your palms to form smooth chocolate balls.

4. Coat the Chocolate Truffles

Roll each truffle in your choice of coating:

  • Cocoa powder → classic French cocoa truffle
  • Crushed nuts → crunchy nut truffle
  • Coconut → tropical chocolate truffle
  • Melted chocolate dip → glossy shell truffle

5. Chill Again

  • Place finished truffles on parchment paper and refrigerate 20 minutes to set.
